PyroMind

Technorama 2018

Everything explodes! This is the slogan of the minimalist PyroMind game of unique puzzles. Despite its traditionally peaceful genre, this is one of the cruellest, most ruthless game that you’ve ever played with the a lot of explosions. And this is not a hyperbole. A slightest mistake and your one-eyed robot explodes, turning into tiny pieces carried around by the wave of the explosion. You do not believe us? Try scoring 300 points in the first three attempts.

At first everything will look deceptively simple. PyroMind throws you into the board full of various bombs, with only two rules: when you reach a bomb, you demine it and get points; and if you don’t manage to do it in ten moves, the bomb explodes, blasting the surrounding area and potentially causing a chain reaction. However, the explosion of the bomb is not the end. But if you got in the way of the explosion wave – well, game over! You should have thought of how to defuse the bombs in order for them not to defuse you!

When you learn to play in each of the risky situations without dying, it’s time to test the two-player mode: here you will be able to blow up your buddy or do the same thing to yourself with a fatal laser beam. You can also play against the artificial intelligence, a choice of more than fifteen robots with unique features, different arenas, bombs-bosses, and ultimately, if you reach the highest of heights while breaking away from chain reactions you will reach a shabby heights you will face the biggest legend and horror of the PyroMind world, the ancient bomb Fruntelo

PyroMind story began three years ago: the application won the award as the best game at the AppCamp Lt Chakoton hackaton. Afterwards, the author delayed the development of the game for a long time, until he finally had enough time and resources. PyroMind was transformed from a modest prototype into a full-fledged game for various platforms. Soon it became one of the last games to go to the biggest gaming store Steam for personal computers through Greenlight – a now-closed selection system where users could vote for their favourite games.

In 2017 PyroMind won bronze at the Game Development World Championship. And at the Lithuanian festival GameOn, the game full of bombs and explosions was selected to participate at the finale of the Nordic Games Discovery Contest from all the candidates. It will take place in Sweden this May.
