Nine out of ten adults face back pain at least once in their lives, and at least half of working people suffers from it every year. The most commonly occurring chronic pain in the world is precisely the back pain. This is one of the most common causes of disability or inability to work.
Back pain is often caused by irregular posture or sitting, seated workstations or using smart equipment while bent over. All of this eventually tightens back and / or neck muscles, squeezes intervertebral discs, cause inflammation and pain.
Chair “Scarlet” prevents muscle tiredness, thus preventing back pain and suppressing already occurring. On this chair, you sit “backwards”, i.e. you lean not with you back, as usual, but with your back and chin, which results in full relaxation of the back and neck muscles.
Despite the fact that the chosen seating position is very comfortable, it is still important to change it regularly. Therefore, the chair “Scarlet” is for the usual posture, with the back touching the backrest. Due to the extremely narrow backrest, the chair encourages you to maintain an upright posture and be mindful of your shoulders. The chair is designed to be used in the office, but its design is inspired by surgeons’ and massage chairs. The first enables the surgeon to carry out operations throughout the day with the using only the wrist and finger muscles, and the second helps relax all the back and neck muscles during the massage.
The chair prototype has been awarded as the most creative project at the “Hacker Games: Kaunas 2018″. The product is also displayed in the “Namų idėjų centras NIC” salon. You can subscribe to the newsletter on further product development here: https://scarlet.furniture.
The chair is already available and can be purchased. It is created according to a special order, taking into account the customer’s height, physical composition and other parameters. The current model costs € 390, i.e. similar to orthopaedic kneeling, saddle chairs or ergonomic office chairs.
Currently, the “Scarlet” team is working on a chair model with an adjustable backrest height, suitable for different users and could therefore be mass-produced. This model will soon be available on “Etsy“, “Amazon“, and perhaps on crowd funding platforms.
The “Scarlet” team is interested in funding opportunities. We also constantly seek for gifted salespeople, marketing specialists, designers and mechanical engineers for our team.
