“Technorama” attracts more visitors every year, and will not leave them indifferent this year, too. The exhibition-contest of works of young researchers encouraging transnationality for the 16th year, this year will be held on 27 April 2017 at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). Young inventors, business representatives, and curious people who are interested in science and innovation are invited to take part in this event.

“Technorama 2017” has been improved since last year and will provide a wide spectrum of inventions for business representatives. Ideas and inventions will be classified into these areas: chemical technology, socio-economic sciences and humanities, design, mechanics, building construction and architecture, natural sciences and mathematics, information technology, electrical, electronics, energy, health sciences and interdisciplinary research. Organisers promise that the exhibition-contest will be surprising.

The event organised last year had a large number of visitors and participants – more than 70 inventors from Lithuanian and foreign universities took part in the event. “Technorama 2016” attracted representatives from KTU, Vytautas Magnus university (VMU) and Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU). Also, a team of inventors from Belarus, young researchers from KTU Engineering lyceum and VMU “Rasos” gymnasium joined the event.

During the exhibition, the first public smart electric car charging station “SmartChargeBox” was presented and started to work. It was created by students of KTU Faculty of Informatics Kęstutis Valinčius, Mindaugas Jančiukas and Edvinas Šinkevičius. The purpose of this invention is to promote electrically-powered vehicles and increase a number of the smart charging stations in Lithuania because it is assumed that such vehicles are the future of transport. At “Technorama 2016” the visitors were surprised not only by the new inventions but also by interesting seminars and lectures. Representatives of multi-national company “KIC Inno energy” prepared workshop for scientists, start-ups and everyone. During this workshop, information on funding opportunities for young inventors was provided.

During the lecture “Can a Hobby Become a Business?” by writer Mantvydas Leknickas and KTU Startup Space alumni “SEO Helis”, challenges faced when establishing a new business were identified.

The first prize of EUR 1 000 of “Technorama 2016” was won by an interdisciplinary project by Justinas Barakauskas (KTU) and Mindaugas Visockis (Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry, Institute of Horticulture). The invention is called “Electronic Pulse Generator for Effects of Biological Structures”.

The winners presented this invention as exceptional and innovative – it allows to extend process optimisation in such areas of research that were not available until now. It is hoped that the results obtained will become a basis for development of industries in Lithuania and other countries.

In the second place – a unique invention “New-generation Biopolymeric Wound Dressings” created by students Justina Bartkevičiūtė and Milda Smalinskaitė from KTU. The third place was won by an invention called “Apparatus for Reducing Hand Tremor” which is relevant for people with Parkinson’s disease. It is created by students of KTU Aurelija Pauraitė, Eimantas Karašauskas, Andrius Romualdas Juknevičius, Laura Baločkaitė and Edvinas Litvinas.

Prize fund of “Technorama 2017” will be one of the biggest in the history of this event – EUR 5 000!

We kindly invite all participants and visitors to meet at the greatest technology fest!
